Yup! Submited the site and forum when we first started mate. Also done all the meta tags in both forum and site, and the sites all <h> tagged aswell. Just need to get more people visiting the site straight from google. Theres a way we can do this though, sneakily! What to do is, type Honda forum uk into google, and then go through the pages till you find us. Before you click the link to us, save the google page as a favourite/bookmark. Now when you visit the site, click the link in the google search. What this does is, everytime someone searches for Honda Forum or club on google, it logs how many times people click the link to our site from that search. This then bumps us up in relevance to anyone searching Honda or forum or club. It takes a while to get to the top of google, but we'll get there. We were 3rd from the top in google searches last year! Just that because the site doesnt have the same traffic since we restarted it, its dropped our ranking.
We still get a lot of account activation requests, but only so many are genuine. A lot of forums have automatic activation, or user activated acounts, which means that although the number of members goes up every day by a big amount, most of the members are actually just automated bots.
Both our sites have each and every activation request checked by admin before it gets activated. This is so we can weed out the bots, as these lie dormant in the forum, and eventually end up posting spam (auto generated)
So we check everyones i.p. address against the spam register, check the email address against the spam/fake emails, check your location tallys up with what youve entered in profile etc, only then does it get activated by admin. This means members get a totally spam free forum, and the member count is more accurate
